At 11:00 a.m. on June 24, the School of Overseas Education held the 2021 Graduation Ceremony andCommencementat the Auditorium of the School.Undergradute studentsincludingBRENDAN WILLIAM COOPER (Australia), CHRISTOPHER JOHN BINNING (UK), KIAN ROBERT CREMER (UK), HYUNJU CHO (South Korea),and representatives of the facultystaffand advisors as well asofficialsfrom the Party and Government Office, Academic Affairs Department and Student Affairs Department attended the event. The ceremonywas hosted by Deputy Dean Hou Honghong.

On behalf of the faculty staff, Dean Gao Wei firstly extendedhis heartfelt congratulations to the graduatesbeingawarded bachelor degrees.Pointingout that the students have overcome the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, devoted themselves to their studiesforknowledge, and successfully completed their courses and thesis defense,he saidthe School hadwitnessed theirgrowth. Meanwhile, he hopedthat students shouldbeef uptheir efforts to achieve their own values and ambitions, and keepopen-mindedand tolerant, servingas a bridge of communication between China and the world.

Zhao Shiyi(HYUNJU CHO),arepresentative of the graduates,notedin her speech that she is honored to study in the School of Overseas Education of Sichuan University, and that her Chinese language application and understanding of Chinese culture hadbeen significantly improvedinthe School. She also expressedher heartfelt gratitude to her advisors and parents for their support andherclassmates for their assistance. Meanwhile, she wouldfurthermake more efforts instudy, understanding and dissemination of Chinese language as well as Chinese history and culture in her future life and work.

In thewitnessof family members and friends of graduates, faculty members and student representatives, Deputy Dean Lei Li and supervisor representatives Zhou Dan, You Li and Yang Tian turnedthe tassel for the graduates, and Dean Gao Wei presentedthe degree certificates to them, marking the successful conclusion of the graduation ceremony andcommencement. We wish the 2021 graduates the best of luck andsuccess in their new life journey withthe blessings of their alma mater.
